Top 10 Books of the Year (So Far!)

"Top Ten Tuesday" is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish to share lists (because we love them) about books and bookish things.
Technically, I have 11 books, but one is a series that I haven't finished so I just put both up there.

Maus - 10
All the Light We Cannot See - 9
The Book Thief - 8 - review

I love historical fiction. So much. Maus was great, but it's style definitely wasn't my favorite. All of these novels are special to me because they are about a side that we normally see regarding World War II (Maus), a side that I'd never heard about (All the Light We Cannot See) and a side that we dismiss (The Book Thief).

Fangirl - 7 - My favorite lighthearted contemporary that I have read so far this year (a close second was To All the Boys I've Loved Before). I think that this is the only book this year that I have read in less than 24 hours. Read more of my thoughts.

Seconds - 6 - My favorite graphic novel that I have read this year. I have a very old review if you want to check that out as well.

All the Bright Places - 5 - I cannot tell you how much I loved this book. Notice how I said Fangirl was my favorite lighthearted contemporary. This book is dual-perspective following two Seniors and mental illness. Another old review for this one.

The Shatter Me trilogy (Unravel Me is my favorite so far) - 4 - I have a review coming up for Unravel Me later this week, so if you want to read my thoughts on that you will have to wait, but here are some thoughts about the first in the series. I cannot explain how wonderful this series is.

The Wicked + The Divine, Vol. 1: The Faust Act - 3 - My new favorite comic book series (tied closely with Lumberjanes), this is a series about series about gods that appear on earth every 90 years. They are alive for a short period of time, and then they die. It's amazing. Highly recommend (if you don't mind a bit of language).

The Help - 2
Outlander - 1

I can't explain how much I love these two. Read reviews here and here.

Stacking the Shelves [18]: I Broke My Book Buying Ban

Stacking the shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews, and it's all about sharing the books that have come into your possession throughout the week, whether it books added to your collection, ebooks, library books, etc. Sunday post is a weekly meme  hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer where bloggers can recap their week, showcase books, and share news.

I broke my book buying ban . . . at Goodwill, so I think that's okay. Also, I only bought two of them, and the man behind me in line bought the third for me. It was sweet.

Goodwill

Let's be honest. I think we all knew that this moment would come. HOWEVER, I did get the hardback of The Angel's Game and a really cool, antiquey Wuthering Heights and a nice, slightly worn paperback of A Thousand Splendid Suns for $10.

(Sidenote: I also bought some books on Thriftbooks recently. One was for school and the other I have wanted for ages, and they were only $11 so I do not even feel bad.)

The most exciting of these is definitely the cool edition of Wuthering Heights that I found. It has deckled edges, a ribbon, and a squishy cover. It's old. It's vintage. It's wonderful.

ALSO, I need your help. I have heard that you do not need to read The Cemetery of Forgotten Books series in order except for the third. Do any of you know more about this or should I definitely read The Shadow of the Wind  before The Angel's Game ?

Library

ALL OF THE ELECTRONIC HOLDS CAME IN AT ONCE. I don't even know what to do with them. I have already read and returned Destroy Me  (which was amazing by the way) and I have started reading Unravel Me,  which overlaps with Destroy Me (and that took me longer to figure out than I care to admit). I haven't touched Shadow and Bone  yet. ACOTAR is pretty okay; I just really want Feyre to do something other than wander around Tamlin's manor.

What I Read

So, I finished my second "book" of the month. I have only finished Maus II and Destroy Me  this month because oh my word this has been the busiest month of my life. However, THIS NOVELLA. What even are words? This novella is from Warner's POV within the Shatter Me trilogy, directly after Shatter Me  yet coincides with the beginning events of Unravel Me.  Highly recommend this if you haven't read it, and I gave it five stars.

When I Wasn't Reading

This was a lot of my time this week. I have almost completed the first season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (which you should watch if you haven't) and have not regretted a single second of it. (Netflix is not our enemy. It is our friend.) I have also been helping with the VBS at my church as well as setting up for a friend's wedding today.

Upcoming

Since I haven't really read anything this month, I will not be doing a "My Month in Tomes" for June, but rather will do a joint one for June and July.

#FridayReads - 26 June 2015

Okay. I am catching up on long-gone bandwagons this Friday. While drinking my morning coffee (even though, YES, it is 11AM, but I just woke up so it's my morning coffee), I am about 25% way through Unravel Me  by Tahereh Mafi. I need more Warner in this book, like there's been one mention of him thus far . . . I am hoping for more. I like this one a little less than Shatter Me  at the moment, but I am thinking (and hoping) that it gets loads better. I am still enjoying though.

I am also about 140 pages into ACOTAR. If I can surpass 50% by the end of today, I will be ubsurdly happy. I am enjoying this so  much more than I liked Throne of Glass  because Feyre is not as perfectly annoying (both perfect and annoying) as Celeana (?) is. Feyre is basically a more sex-driven and less talented Katniss. Also, does this story ever go outside of the castle/mansion/manor?

Also, I am off-and-on listening to Mosquitoland  by David Arnold. The narrator is hilarious and this story is amazing in and of itself.

What are you reading this Friday? Does Juliette get less annoying? Does Adam ever  go away? Tell me down in the comments!

Happy Reading!

This Week's Queue [1]

This Week's Queue is a mash up of all the things I plan on/am currently reading, watching, and listening to during the upcoming week. This feature will pop up randomly, and I would like to thank Amarisa @ amarisafloria for letting me use her idea.

Read

A Court of Thorns and Roses  by Sarah J. Maas

I picked this up Saturday afternoon from the library and am loving it so far! I cannot wait to see what happens next.

It feels SUPER Hunger Games-y at the moment: the huntress Feyre has to leave behind her beloved boy in the village to go away to an extraordinary mansion with extravagant feasts and fancy dresses with a "golden haired man" . . . sound familiar?

Watch

I have never seen a Jane Austen book adapted to movie or mini-series. I have seen a play adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, but that was over four years ago. I don't remember a thing.

I also may never have read a Jane Austen book.

*avoids flying tomatoes*

I have heard this particular adaptation is amazing.

Listen

Mosquitoland  by David Arnold

I picked up the audiobook from my library like yesterday, and I really want to listen to it.

I also need to listen to something while I do a bunch of cleaning this week, especially since I finished the most recent season of Grey's Anatomy.

What is on your schedule for the week? Do you have a schedule?

Happy Reading, Listening, and Watching!

I would like to start this by thanking Jessica for doing this giveaway. Also, I would like to say that I am not putting up the individual covers for these books because this post would be incredibly long. Life Update

This week, I registered for college! Yay! I got my student ID, my classes, and am officially a college student. Whoo! Also, I have been incredibly busy, been in a reading slump, and started watching Grey's Anatomy season 11. Don't spoil me, I am only half-way through. It's amazing and incredibly sad.

Top 10 Books on My Summer TBR

"Top Ten Tuesday" is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish to share lists (because we love them) about books and bookish things.
I'm feeling slumpy, so please excuse the lateness of this post.

Due to my slumpy-ness and business and Grey's Anatomy season 11 being on Netflix, these might be the only ten books I read this summer.

What is on your summer TBR? Tell me down below!
