  • THE DINNER: I got my first finished review copy from Blogging for Books! I am so excited to read this one because I have heard really wonderful things about it. (The synopsis is also incredible.)
  • ILLUMINAE: No words, just excitement. My dustjacket is off center, and I know no way to fix it.

What I Read

Major spoiler for my October Wrap-Up . . . because this is only the second book I read this month. But I loved it, so it's all okay.

When I Wasn't Reading

Did I ever mention that I finished Parks and Recreation a few weeks ago? Because I did and there were a lot of tears. (My sister, her boyfriend, and their dog dressed up as April, Andy, and Champion for Halloween, and it's they are perfection.)

Now, I have started The Mindy Project, and I really like it so far.

Also I have been crying because college is hard, and three English classes for a non-English major makes for the worst semester of my life.

I've Got Your Number | My First Sophie Kinsella!

Oh. My. Stars.

This book deserves all the stars and a movie (this would make an A+ spring rom-com).

Things to Know About I've Got Your Number

  • I highly recommend this audiobook. The narrator is so funny, and she does a fantastic job with voices. It might sound a little strange, but there are a lot of messages in this book and being able to tell who is who in an audiobook gets a big gold star from me.
  • Don't feel bad about not liking Magnus and/or his family because I didn't either. Honestly, to this very moment I hate everything about the relationship between Magnus and Poppy.
  • Footnote, footnote, footnote. I love the footnotes. I also love how they lessen throughout the novel as Poppy's character develops.
  • It makes sense. I wondered how someone could just lose their priceless, antique engagement ring, but believe me when I say that the way Sophie Kinsella plays out the story makes complete sense.

  •  This was my first Sophie Kinsella novel and I found it very accessible and even more fun (and it definitely left me wanting more of her writing).
  • It concluded. It tied itself up nicely, and I'm not sitting here wondering what happened. It had a clear story arc, and when I finished I wasn't sitting around thinking "Well, I need to know more" and "What kind of crap ending was that?"
  • I was annoyed with Poppy at the beginning, but her character development is so, so outstandingly amazing. Seriously, so often it's hard to tell that the protagonist in contemporary novels changed at all from the beginning of the novel to the end. Poppy is a completely different character at the end than she was at the beginning (100% for the better).
Content: PG-13
Cursing: Well placed, but definitely there
Sex: Mentioned, not explicit
STATUS: NEW FAVORITE

I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella
Published: 31 October 2011 by Random House
Format - Length: e-Audiobook - 13 hours 25 minutes

Poppy Wyatt has never felt luckier. She is about to marry her ideal man, Magnus Tavish, but in one afternoon her "happily ever after" begins to fall apart. Not only has she lost her engagement ring in a hotel fire drill but in the panic that follows, her phone is stolen. As she paces shakily around the lobby, she spots an abandoned phone in a trash can. Finders keepers! Now she can leave a number for the hotel to contact her when they find her ring. Perfect!

Well, perfect except that the phone's owner, businessman Sam Roxton, doesn't agree. He wants his phone back and doesn't appreciate Poppy reading his messages and wading into his personal life.

What ensues is a hilarious and unpredictable turn of events as Poppy and Sam increasingly upend each other's lives through emails and text messages. As Poppy juggles wedding preparations, mysterious phone calls, and hiding her left hand from Magnus and his parents... she soon realizes that she is in for the biggest surprise of her life.
Have you read any Sophie Kinsella? Please tell me which of her books to read next because I need more of her. Talk to me about this book if you've read it or are thinking of reading it down in the comment!

  • A LITTLE LIFE: KDFH - Basically how I feel about reading this book. I really, really want to, but I also really, really feel like it might destroy my entire life.
  • ME BEFORE YOU: How excited am I to read this book? A mix between excited and preparing myself with tissues.
I haven't finished any books since last week but I am "currently reading" 5-6 books (the curse of a reading slump). What are you reading? What books did you get? Have you read either of these?

  • THE DARKEST MINDS: This was 99 cents on kindle one day this past week. I've been on the fence about reading it, so when it was only 99 cents on kindle I figured I would just go ahead and get it.
  • WE ALL LOOKED UP: This is the reason I made the BookOutlet order. And you can't just make a BookOutlet order with one book.
  • MY TRUE LOVE GAVE TO METHE UNBECOMING OF MARA DYERThese two are two that I have heard a lot about these two. I couldn't not get them.
  • REBOOTIF YOU FIND METHE GLASS SENTENCEI've seen these ones around and they have fairly good Goodreads reviews, so I wanted to add them to my shelves.
  • THE SWORD OF SUMMER. THE REST OF US JUST LIVE HERE: Pre-orders. Too excited to actually write comprehensive sentences here.
  • TWILIGHT & LIFE AND DEATH: As soon as I found out that this was released, I literally ran down campus towards my car to go to Target (which is twenty minutes away via the interstate . . . i am dedicated). Also, it's the reason I bought the next two books.
  • GIRL ONLINECARRY ONI've wanted to read Girl Online since it came out, but the whole ghost-writing scandal made me not want to. With the second book coming out this month, I wanted to see if I liked the story for myself. Also, I completely forgot that Carry On was released (with everything else) on October 6th, so I had to pick it up.

My Month in Tomes | September 2015

I read more than I thought I would for having my first full month of school.

And I'm finished with my goodreads challenge so it doesn't really matter how many books I read anyway.

I still haven't found a good spot for photographing, so today's post comes to you from the air conditioning unit.

  • CLOCKWORK PRINCE: 5 stars! Such a fun read and an amazing sequel. Hopefully I will read the last book this month! I am simultaneously excited and scared.
  • EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING: 3.5 stars! A definite need to read if you like YA contemporary, but this one just wasn't for me as much as it "was" for other people. It wasn't everything, everything to me, but it was fun, fun. Definitely an entertaining read, but I found it incredibly predictable. However, the format of this book was something that definitely added to the fun of reading this. There are doodles and "Life is Short Book Reviews" from Madeline and email exchanges between Ollie & Maddy that are too good to miss.
  • THE BAD BEGINNING: 5 stars! (A reread) I listened to the audiobook for this on Scribd (use the link on the sidebar to get two months free if you're a new user!) and this is one that I definitely reccommend if you want to reread (or finish) the series! It has a full cast of characters and sound effects. It's almost like you're listening to a movie, and I will definitely continue rereading/listening to the series.
I haven't done a lot of reading this month (or blogging for that matter) and this isn't the best post, but this is definitely for my sake and records.
