Yes, I know that it is Tuesday. I was supposed to put up a T10 post up today, and I literally had four posts to put up last week that just didn't happen because midterms are currently kicking my ass.

So, today, I am going to post a book haul because I want to. 

The Demon King (Seven Realms #1) | Romeo and/or Juliet | We Should All Be Feminists | Men Explain Things to Me

So, if you follow Lauren DeStefano on twitter, then you know that she does a lot of B&N gift card giveaways because she's fucking amazing. AND I WON ONE. (I've been winning quite a few giveaways recently *knocks on wood* and it's been great for my book buying ban.)

These weren't all the books that I bought. I placed three separate orders on B&N to maximize pre-orders and free shipping, so they will be in my fall book haul!

• WE SHOULD ALL BE FEMINISTS: 5 STARS. This is the amazing speech that Adichie gave at a TED convention a few years ago. You need to read this and/or listen to the speech. Preferably both. Now.
• ROMEO AND/OR JULIET: This is a choose your own adventure novel with Romeo and Juliet. It's hilarious, and I love it so so much. If you've read any comics from Ryan North and love the humor, pick this up.
• THE DEMON KING: I have heard 65829358750265819 good things about this book. I needed to pick it up.
• MEN EXPLAIN THINGS TO ME: FEMINISM!

Back to School Library Book Haul! | STS

So, the public library just a couple streets away from my university is absolutely amazing. It's four floors of amazing, and there are new corners and nooks that I discover every time that I walk in. Unlike my library back home, they have a whole section just for YA and MG books instead of mixing them in with the adult books. This makes it so much easier to browse for books that I want to read (and end up walking out with 12 books tucked underneath my arms and in my tote bag).

• SIX OF CROWS: I've come to accept the fact that I won't finish Siege and Storm, Ruin and Rising, and Six of Crows before the release of Crooked Kingdom. So, I've decided to just aim to read SoC before the sequel's release. However, neither my hometown library nor the library in my college town has the e-Audio of this. Now I need to figure out how to speed up an iTunes audio . . . or suffer through 16 very slow hours.
• EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE: I haven't seen this movie, but one of my challenges for the year is to read a book to movie adaptation. The movie stars Tom Hanks (so I'm sure it'll be fantastic), and I have it back at home. Also, I have heard positively wonderful things about this book and would love to read it. 
• CARRY ON: I read this last year when it came out; however, I did not bring it with me to school, and I've been feeling the urge to reread it (especially after the disaster of Cursed Child). The link will lead you to my review if you want to know all of my fangirling thoughts. 
• THE KISS OF DECEPTION, THE HEART OF BETRAYAL: Even though I doubt that I'll get to both of these, I went ahead and picked the pair up. With the recent release of the third book, my intrigue for this series has once again peaked.

• ERAGON: I am reading this right now, and frankly I am shocked that I haven't read it earlier. I vaguely remember my sister reading it in high school. (They read it for a class and got extra credit for seeing the movie in theaters . . . yes, she's old.) And I've always kind of been interested in it because dragons and not just dragons sentient dragons. My favorite kind of dragons. Jean and Trina have both recently recommended this series, so when I saw it on the shelves, I immediately grabbed it.
• AND I DARKEN: TBH I probably won't read this before returning it. I just saw it and was like "I'll totally be in the mood to finish this!" . . . This was before I saw the entire Inheritance Cycle in the library.
• THE SIGN OF FOUR (GRAPHIC NOVEL): I was so happy to see this there! I really enjoyed the first two in this graphic novel series (The Hound of the Baskervilles, A Study in Scarlet) of Doyle's work
• SPIDER-GWEN, VOL. 1: GREATER POWER: 4 stars! I have already read this and really enjoyed it! This is the first official volume in the Spider-Gwen series, although reading volume 0 is a must! If you've ever watched any of the Spiderman movies and laughed at Peter Parker's sense of humor, pick this up. If you're new to Marvel, this takes place in an alternate universe, so you don't really need to know any Marvel background . . . and you should pick this up. Everyone should read this series.
• CIVIL WAR: I saw the movie. Now that the hype has died down and the trade was available for checkout, I grabbed it quick as I could because this story fascinates me. I know a bit of comic story and what was changed for the movie, so I am excited to read it for myself.
• DOCTOR STRANGE, VOL. 1: THE WAY OF THE WEIRD: The movie is coming out, and I literally know nothing about Doctor Strange. I want to know at least a little going into the movie.

Kindred Spirits | Amy and Roger's Epic Detour | Second Chance Summer | What Happens Now | Burning Glass | Breaking Dawn

Look at Peggy! Look how cute she is! (I saw this when I was at BAM! in their giant Funko section and I knew I had to get her so she could accompany Cap on my shelf.) (Also because she's Peggy fuckin' Carter and basically my role model.)

Anywho, I picked up my Matson books to round off my collection of her books. I read Amy and Roger last summer and enjoyed it, and I am "currently reading" (and taking a break from) Second Chance because Taylor is one of my least favorite characters I've ever read and this is--so far--my least favorite MM book.

I got a lovely #BooksForTrade from Paige @ The Paige-Turner. I am really happy to have a copy of Burning Glass, and hopefully I can get to it really soon. I also won a giveaway from Epic Reads (WOO!) and got a ARC of What Happens Now by Jennifer Castle.

Long-story-short on Breaking Dawn my sister and I shared copies of the last two Twilight books. I got Eclipse, she got Breaking Dawn. So when I saw this at my library's book sale, I snagged it for a dollar. (And it's basically in perfect condition--yay!)

Also, I would like to state on the record that I have finally seen Howl's Moving Castle. I don't know how my parents kept me from this for my entire life, but I have now seen it (like five times) and oh my goodness it's amazing.

I am currently reading My Lady Jane and it's great so far! 

My thoughts of the Princess Diaries books boils down to: "OMG, Mia, you're horribly dramatic and slightly annoying, but you're 14/15 so it's kind of excusable." (All links go to my GR reviews for more in depth thoughts.)

Can You Keep a Secret? | Ugly Love | Maybe Someday | Not Working | Wolf by Wolf | The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making | Chew, Vol. 1, 2, 3 | Injection, Vol. 1

Now for the stack from the library that I haven't yet gotten to. I'm going to watch the original Star Wars trilogy for the first time! I'm sure I saw bits and pieces as a child, but I was scared of Lord of the Rings as a kid so I was probably also scared of Star Wars.

I'm probably most excited about The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland as I have heard really great things. I'm also really looking forward to my first Colleen Hoover books and my second Sophie Kinsella book. Wolf by Wolf will hopefully be another exciting one because I love alternate history historical fiction, and this is set in WWII, which is one of my favorite time periods.

This was such an amazing OwlCrate box! The theme for this month was steampunk, and it involved so much beautiful jewelry, and an absolutely stunning art print tribute to Peter Pan & J.M. Barrie (not pictured because I've already hung it up on my wall). I have never read a Peter Pan retelling, and I am excited for this to be my first because I am always a fan of steampunk elements!

Also, check out the TID clockwork angel ring that was included! Beautiful!

ALL OF THESE CAME FROM BOOK OUTLET. I know, you don't believe me, but I don't believe me either so it's really okay. I went for a casual pre-finals scroll through Book Outlet, intending for it to be one of those "add books to your cart and then leave the site" kind of deals, but then I saw so many amazing things, like the Harry Potter Creature Vault and Princess of Thorns, which is a Game of Thrones-esk continuation of Sleeping Beauty (read Cait @ PaperFury's rave review and tell me you don't want to read this book!) I'm also really excited to own my own copy of The Conspiracy of Us, a book I started in March--and loved!--but had to return to the library before I could finish.

Book Depository and Amazon also happened to me this month. I am definitely going to be picking up The Bane Chronicles soon because I was not prepared for the lack of Magnus that there is in Lady Midnight. I am currently working my way through The Wrath & The Dawn and I'm really liking it!

These were all of #booksfortrade things that I got this month! I am so happy with all of these, especially The Darkest Minds, which is signed (Thanks, Paige!), and The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender.

March Book Haul!

The School for Good and Evil | Salt to the Sea | A Gathering of Shadows

Definitely broke that whole "read 5 before you buy 1" book buying ban. But I'm working on it. You really shouldn't have expected me to just stop buying books so suddenly. AGOS is one that I preordered (Also, I got this beautiful double-sided Rhysand card when I met Victoria in March) so it technically doesn't even count.

I also had to pick up Ruta Sepetys new book because I am absolutely obsessed with all historical fiction, especially the stories that aren't typically told or are told from an atypical POV.

Middle grade. Magic school. That's all I needed to know about ASFGAE. That's all I know. That's all I want to know. I've wanted to read this book for a while, and I finally picked up my own copy. (Also, "children's" paperbacks are super cheap, so I had to.)

The Winner's Crime | The Raven Boys | The Dream Thieves | Blue Lily, Lily Blue | Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Illustrated)

These are all books that I ordered at the end of 2015 and just now got my hands on.

This is what happens when you go to college, work weekends, and subsequently don't go home until there's a book festival. The only one that I haven't read is TWCbecause I still haven't read the first and was waiting for the third book's release.

Lady Midnight

Lady Midnight. Lady Midnight. Lady Midnight. Lady Midnight. Lady Midnight. Say it five times in the mirror and hopefully Magnus Bane will appear in another Cassandra Clare book. (But, seriously, I don't know how I'm going to make it through 720 of a book without Magnus.) (Obviously, I don't know how to cope with this.)

I've heard absolutely outstanding things about this book. I'm about 100 pages in right now, and it's already my favorite Cassie Clare book. *fingers crossed that it stays that way*

• THE MARTIAN: I wanted to reread this book and annotate it because I am a nerd and this was my favorite book of 2015, so don't judge me.
• THE SCORPIO RACES, A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC: I GET TO MEET MAGGIE AND VICTORIA IN MARCH. Obviously I needed more books by them to get signed because duh. 
• THE GIRL FROM EVERYWHERE: I have heard such wonderful things about this book, so this is one of my preorders for the year. I am so incredibly excited to get to it.
• FINNIKIN OF THE ROCK, THE LIGHT BETWEEN OCEANS: Now, I know this portion technically breaks my book buying ban, (because I allowed myself preorders, books I've already read, and books to get signed at the book conference I am attending in March) but these are both used books and I am planning on reading TLBO with Shannon's book club in the second half of 2016.

Library E-Books and Audiobooks

• CRESS: I got the audiobook for this one because I feel like I should give this series a second chance. So far, this is the best of the three, but I'm not very far into it so things could change.
• THE UNDOMESTIC GODDESS: Audiobooks are definitely the way to go if you pick up a Sophie Kinsella in my opinion. This is one of people's favorites of her's and--even though I am not very far into it--it's really good so far!
• THE FAVORITE: Ahh, Selection short stories. I've already read this and gave it four stars because I love Marlee and loved hearing her story. Definitely pick this up if you liked her character.

Physical Library Books

• WEIGHT: Another one that I have already read. This one I gave somewhere around 3.5-4 stars. This is a really great retelling of the story of Heracles and Atlas. It's a short and really enjoyable read!
• THE CONSPIRACY OF US: I literally picked this one up based solely on the review by Lainey @ Ginger Reads Lainey on Youtube. She absolutely raved about this book, and I had to pick it up when she mentioned one of my buzzwords: Alexander the Great.
• THE FALSE PRINCE, THE RUNAWAY KING: This is supposed to be a really amazing MG fantasy series, like one of the absolute best. I'm excited.
• THE EVOLUTION OF MARA DYER, THE RETRIBUTION OF MARA DYER: Something I am less excited about, but still reasonably looking forward to reading. I halfway loved the first book, and am more intrigued than excited to read the rest of this series.

Pre-Book Buying Ban Book Haul | Stacking the Shelves [37]

Starting at the beginning of January, I started a book buying ban. I have resolved to read five books before buying one. (I am allowing myself to buy books that I have already read as well as a handful of books for a signing coming up in March.)

These are all books that I bought before the book buying ban started (and a preorder) with Christmas money.

The Book Outlet Boxing Day sale is a magical thing. Definitely got a little arm workout holding all of these up (because no I do not work out, and yes, this was kind of heavy).

• THE FANGIRL'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY: I was really surprised to see this one on Book Outlet, and honestly, I have wanted this since it came out just for the novelty of it.
• THE LOTUS WAR TRILOGY (I, II, III): If you've followed me for a bit, you know that Illuminae was one of my absolute favorite books of 2015. I am super excited for Kristoff's new series coming out later this year, so I wanted to read some of his individual books before picking up his newest. What I know: Japanese, Steampunk, Fantasy. I need to know no more.
• THE SHELL COLLECTOR: Another case of "I loved X book" (All the Light We Cannot See) "and want to read more of this author" (Anthony Doerr). 
• WOLF IN WHITE VAN, HOW TO BUILD A GIRL: I know very little about both of these, but the little that I have heard has been amazing, so I wanted to pick them up while I had the chance.

LOOK HOW PRETTY THIS BOX SET IS. I don't care what anyone else says about these covers, I love the spines (and the covers are pretty okay). I am at book 3 right now, and I am going to try (and probably fail) to finish this series before Lady Midnight releases.

• THE WINNER'S CURSE: I've wanted to read this series for a while and when I got wind (or tsunami if you were on Twitter that day) of the cover change, I snagged the first two UK covers from Book Depository because I had planned on buying the paperbacks for this series. (The second one got lost in the mail, and then they resent it but it is sitting at my house two hours away.)
• STOLEN: I forgot to include this one in my last haul. But this one was the result of a #BooksforTrade on twitter.
• PASSENGER: Pre-ordered this one. Still haven't read it. Story of my life.
• SIX OF CROWS: I know, I know. "But Monica, you already have a signed ARC of this book." Correct, and now I have a beautiful, black-edged finished edition that can match the sequel.

Since I will no longer be doing weekly book hauls replaced with these monthly book hauls, I will still have an update of some of the posts that I have done within the past month.

• THE ADORATION OF JENNA FOX & THE FOX INHERITANCE: Literally picked these up solely on the recommendation of Shannon @ Leaning Lights. She recently read this series and liked it, so when I saw it I naturally had grabby hands.
• IF I STAY & WHERE SHE WENT: I just saw the If I Stay movie (I KNOW! I KNOW!) and loved it to bits and pieces. I've heard the movie was a really faithful adaptation, but I really want to read the story as well. (Because I loved it that much.)
• A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC: I love Victoria Schwab and I have no excuse for not having read this book already.
• THE DREAM THIEVES & BLUE LILY, LILY BLUE: I HAVE DISCOVERED THE MAGIC OF MAGGIE STIEFVATER (Thank you, Cait!) and I have devoured this series this month. (4 stars to TBR, 5 stars to TDT, and I am currently devouring BLLB!)
• HONOR GIRL & THE SLEEPER AND THE SPINDLE:  Honor Girl is one that I have seen around through the Landfall Freight unboxings, and I just had serious grabby hands when I saw this. It will be my first experience into Graphic Memoirs, so I am excited. Also, I was browsing the Neil Gaiman section and grabbed this the second I saw it.
• MS. MARVEL, VOL. 3: Just finished volume 2 for this series, and it is so amazing. So much fun, and it portrays such good messages. (I still love Lumberjanes more, though.)
• THOR, VOL. 1 & 2: DO YOU LIKE SUPERHEROES? DO YOU LIKE KICK-BUTT FEMALES? READ THIS. Just do it. It's my standout comic book series for the year.

• GRAVE MERCY & THE HOUSE OF THE SCORPION: Did a little #BooksforTrade-ing this month. I was so happy to get my hands on these two because while I haven't heard much what I have heard has been great.
• WHITE OLEANDER & S: White Oleander is a real-life-friend recommendation that I snagged off Book Outlet, and literally S sounds perfect. Also, it was imagined by J.J. Abrams (creator of Lost), and it was 50% off on Book Outlet. I couldn't not.
• THE HERO OF AGES: I NOW OWN THE WHOLE SERIES (in matching, floppy editions from Book Outlet) SO I HAVE NO EXCUSE. I NEED TO READ THIS SERIES.
• THE GAME OF LOVE AND DEATH & MENAGERIE: I can't remember who it was (and I am too lazy to check) but someone in the book blogging community was having a book sale, and I have wanted these two for ages. They were, together, $9. Yes, please.
• THE QUEEN OF THE TEARLING: I already own the paperback, but this beautiful hardcover was in my Books-A-Million's bargain section for $5 so I needed it. Clearly.

• DARKFEVER & BLOODFEVER: So many people rave about this series. They say it's quick and addicting. I love quick and addicting.
• UNRAVEL ME: I now own the complete series! *Jumps for joy* I read this series earlier this year and have been slowly collecting the PBs for future rereads. Now I can reread!
• SHADOW AND BONE & SIEGE AND STORM: Gifts from my lovely #TBTBSanta! The lovely Rachel @ NerdHerdReads was such a great secret santa and gave me the first two in this series! I have already read the first book (a little underwhelmed--probably a victim of hype) but I am excited to go into the rest of the series with lower expectations.
• RUIN AND RISING: Clearly I needed to go out and buy the matching third book for myself. Doi.
• FALLING INTO PLACE: Another bargain section snag from BAM! It was only $3 and only about 2 of my friends on GR have read it. I wanted to give it a shot as I saw it circling a lot of blog tours earlier this year.

When I Wasn't Reading

Sleeping. Buying books (see above). Deciding whether or not to get the TMI boxset. Pining overr BILLY bookshelves from IKEA. Tweeting. Drinking an absurd amount of hot chocolate and watching an absurd amount of Doctor Who and Criminal Minds.

The usual.

OH! And I finished my first semester of college! My GPA isn't what I want it to be, but I know that I can raise it to where I want it next semester.

Stacking the Shelves [35]: Library + Black Friday Haul!

Stacking the shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews, and it's all about sharing the books that have come into your possession throughout the week, whether it books added to your collection, ebooks, library books, etc. Sunday post is a weekly meme  hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer where bloggers can recap their week, showcase books, and share news.

The Stack

• THE UNDOMESTIC GODDESS, REMEMBER ME?: These are the two Sophie Kinsella novels that intrigue me the most. I read I've Got Your Number a couple months ago, and I would really love to read more of Sophie Kinsella's work.
• LONG WALK TO VALAHALLA: Picked this one up on a complete whim. Since I've (halfway) read Magnus Chase, I want to know more about Norse Mythology. While this doesn't seem to be too much about the actual mythology and more about the journey, I am still super intrigued.
• MS. MARVEL, VOL. 2; ALL-NEW X-MEN, VOL. 4: These are two series that I need to continue on with. I am slightly skeptical to continue on with All-New X-Men as I didn't really enjoy the last volume. If I don't enjoy this volume, I will probably let go of this series.
• THE RAVEN BOYS: Got this one on audiobook (from my library because audiobooks are expensive) for my drive back home. SO GOOD, GUYS. SO GOOD.
• A MADNESS SO DISCREET: I won a giveaway for this book! Seriously, I have wanted to read this since it came out. So glad that I got it!
• THE MARVELS, GIRL ONLINE: ON TOUR: Actually bought books on Black Friday. The Marvels was half off so don't judge me. Girl Online was signed, and I had a moment of weakness. 
• SECRET GARDEN: No regrets. This is so much fun and has been a great post-finals relaxer.

What I Read This Week

Five stars. So many tears. Grab a box of tissues and some cookie dough, and pick this book up ASAP. 

Also it's going to be a movie (out spring 2016) and if you're in basically any fandom, you have a reason to go see this movie. Examples: Sam Claflin (THG), Emilia Clark (GOT), Jenna Coleman (DW), Matthew Lewis (HP) to name a few.

When I Wasn't Reading

I was packing and doing finals and finishing up my first semester of college (!!!). Also, I was coloring (see above: Secret Garden.)
