Library

Oh, the land of audiobooks. All three of these are digital copies from my library through Overdrive. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban  and The Unlikely Hero of Room 13B  are audiobooks. My library does  have a copy of Shatter Me,  but I've heard that it has strike-throughs, so I was unsure as to how that would work in audio. Ebook was a safe bet.

Netgalley

All I know: a twist on the beloved Aladdin.  That's all I need to know to love this.

Thriftbooks & BAM!

You know when people say that they don't remember anything about the books they read in school? Well, I remember actually nothing.  At all. So, I picked this up when I saw this copy on thriftbooks.

Also, when I went to visit my local BAM! with the extra cash I had on hand, and I saw You  just sitting in the bargain section for $7, I couldn't just leave it there. Not after hearing Lindsey's review of it. It sounds amazingly creepy and wonderful and life changing. I need to read it ASAP. Before then, I hadn't even heard it, but now I am so intrigued. Watch her review because whatever I say could not possibly do it justice.

Life Update

I GOT MY OWN CAMERA. I have been using my Mom's Canon Rebel T5i, but now I have my own! (Without the "i", but I don't even know what the "i" means.) There was a deal at Best Buy, and I have been wanting my own for forever. I was in literal tears in the car with my mom afterword.

I've never spent so much money in my life. Now my bank account is $500 lighter, and my saver heart is crying.

Also, does anyone know how to fix the problem with Disqus and blogger that happened this week? Any help is appreciated.

UN-Stacking My Shelves!

I have never unhauled books before, but as I am going to be headed to college in four months, I decided to clear out some of the books that I didn't want on my shelves anymore. There will be more books to unhaul in the future, but as for now, this is it. Also, I really wanted to rearrange my bookshelf.

Some of these books are books that I have bought with my own money. Others are books I have been given or someone else bought for me. Even more are books that were passed on to me from my sister.

With all the buzz going around the internet of #crushyourtbr and #0by16 and such, I felt the need to clear out all the books that I don't want to look at any longer. A few of these I have read, but even more are books that I've never touched.

Before you freak out about Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban  being in this stack, I have another copy. This copy just didn't match the others. 5 of the 11 are books that I have read and just was not impressed with, 5 of the 11 are books that I've lost interest in reading, and 1 is one that I had to pick up for school and only read like 12 pages of. I'm planning on taking these guys to a local bookshop and selling them there.

(Where I can obviously get more money to buy more books). Except that's not the point, but that's what I'm going to do.

As of the day I am posting this, I have 63 unread books on my shelves, 55 read books, and 2 books that I am currently reading.

Now, I won't finish that TBR by 2016. But I do want to have a 75:25 ratio of read:unread books on my shelves by 2016. I would also like to get rid of a few more books, but I will save those for another day.

Are you ready with your pitchforks? Also, did you like this kind of post? Because I might do more of them. Also, when I head off to college, would you like me to show you all the books I'm taking with me? Tell me down below!

Bout of Books 13: Goals and Participation!

Bout of Books

This will be my first time doing the Bout of Books read-a-thon, and my first weeklong read-a-thon! This is kind of a mixture of perfect and not perfect timing for me. My last day of high school (EVER!  Excuse me while I jump for joy!) is the 11th, my graduation is the 17th, but I have two AP tests between. So, this is simultaneously the best and worst week for this read-a-thon to take place.

The Official Purpose:
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 11th and runs through Sunday, May 17th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 13 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team
See the official sign up and official schedule.

Goals:
-Read 3 books and/or graphic novels
-Read 1 audiobook and/or e-book
-Read 1 re-read
-Write reviews for all books read

My Potential TBR:
The Outsiders  by S.E. Hinton
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl  by Jesse Andrews
Shatter Me  by Taherah Mafi
The Kiss of Deception  by Mary E. Pearson

I will also try to do my best to update my blog throughout the week, and participate in as many of the challenges as I can.

Are you participating in Bout of Books 13? If you are, what do you plan on reading? Tell me down in the comments!

April in Review: 2015

So this month was great. Lots of tears, but everything is looking up. Reading wise, I was feeling very slumpy this month. Which is why three of the books I read were graphic novels, one was an audiobook, and one was half-audiobook. I've only bought three books this month because the library has been my best friend. I also need to save money for college and things needed for my dorm.

This month I completed my very first half-marathon (and I think I have a stress fracture, but I refuse to go to the doctor), presented and finished writing my senior thesis, studied and studied for my three AP tests, and decided which college I am going to attend in the fall.

A lot happened this month, but I know that what is going to happen in May will be even better.

Stats

Favorite book of the month: Definitely The Book Thief.  I mean, what kind of human would I be if I didn't pick this one.

Most surprising book: Lumberjanes  was absolutely fantastic. I had heard the Book Rioters talking and raving about it, but I was surprised by how wonderful (for all ages) this graphic novel was. The Wicked + The Divine  was also absolutely stunning. I was depressed to find out I have to wait for the second volume. However, that one is definitely for more mature audiences.

So this month wasn't the best of reading months, but I am still impressed with myself. What was the best book you read this month? Tell me down in the comments!

Thriftbooks

Tiny rant: when I order something "like new" I expect to recieve something that is similar to something I would pick up in Barnes & Noble. Rant: over.

I have already read this book (and loved  it, in case you're a newbie), but wanted to collect the physical, floppy paperback versions. This however, was not like new, so if you have any suggestions on how to cover a past owner's name on the inside front cover, please leave them in the comments for me!

Library

This month has really been the month of graphic novels and comics for me. With school coming to an end and all of the review and testing that comes with that, I haven't had as much time to dedicate to reading novels as I would like. Because of that, I have really delved into the world of graphic novels and comic books.

I have been waiting  for the day that my library's copy of Black Widow, Vol. 2  was waiting for me. I haven't read it yet, but I am so excited. Similarly, I wanted to delve further into the world of X-Men, and this was one of the ones recommended for new X-Men readers.

Now, I have been avoiding The Kiss of Deception  for a looong time. Mainly because I have tried reading The Princess Bride  and couldn't make myself finish it because I hated it. It was weird. (Please put away the pitchforks, I am going to try again this summer.) However, when my library got this in, I needed to pick it up.

Life Update

So, I kind of just had my last ever week of high school. Except not really, but kind of. There are AP tests for the next two weeks, but I only have to go to "school" for one of them. It's weird and hard to explain.

Basically, I don't really have to go to school anymore, and that means I have more time to read. Yay!

What do you think of the books I got this week? Also, any suggestions for the cover-up of Outlander  that I mentioned? If you do, leave them down in the comments!
